About Jackie Frasch

My Story

Your story, your pain, and your collection of struggles are unique to you.  There is no one-size-fits-all approach to therapy.  Together, we will spend time understanding what you are experiencing and why so that when you start making changes that will improve your life, it will be sustainable.  We will collaborate tasks that you can practice between sessions and tools to learn healthy coping skills.

My private clinical counselling practice has been alive for a little over 5 years now.  I am a registered professional counsellor with the Canadian Professional Counselling Association and received, with honours a diploma in Applied Psychology and Counselling at the Kelowna College of Professional Counsellors.  I have immersed myself in courses to expand my skills and technique for my clients.  Certifications such as grief and loss and anxiety treatment, including studies with internal family systems and Polyvagal Theory have given me a different perspective on coping skills, how to work with anxiety and depressive symptoms, being willing and able to look inward to self.  You know you best, I am here to support you in gaining access to resources and techniques you may not have known about before.  I specialize in solution-focused therapy and cognitive behavioural therapy believing that if you desire to move forward in your life with a sense of calm and peace, looking inward will help you achieve the things you need and support yourself in the process.

My personality includes compassion and safety as a priority.  I aim to ensure you are comfortable with your first steps to engage in counselling and I use a plethora of metaphors to help you see past what blinders may be blocking your access to understanding self and creating specific tools in your own life that will move you forward in your journey.  I have also been known to bring light humour to our sessions to help relieve tense situations for a moment or two.

My approach to treating anxiety is typically acknowledging an anxious thought, gently perusing it to find out how it came to be, allowing it to sit with you in your discomfort, and understanding that when you are able and willing to investigate the issue, you have the ability to find safety and security within it.  Grief is like being willing to experience the pain, sit with it, feel it, and gently put it away when it is too tough to grapple with.  The support of an experienced Counsellor will be able to empathize with where you are at, and simply be with you in your pain.

Some recurring themes I have discovered when treating clients are around the lack of healthy coping skills and boundaries.  Stress is a definitive factor especially within our Covid-19 pandemic world where there is so much that has changed in such a short time, we are all a little stressed with our situations.

Speaking with an authentic and friendly counsellor can give you a different perspective and tools to guide you through these tough times.  These themes have given insight in guiding my approach to meeting you where you are at.  Searching for the tools you have already used in your life that have worked in the past and tweaking them to suit your situations today.  This is mindfulness and when you can define what mindfulness means to you, you will be better able to use your strengths to support yourself as you navigate your journey; and I back you all the way.
